ur Story: A Family Tradition of Cake-Making
At Torte Cake Art, our love for baking began in childhood, deeply rooted in our Armenian heritage. Growing up in a traditional Armenian family, our mum, Nimfa, passed down the art of baking authentic Armenian cakes and handmade sweet treats — a passion that continues to inspire everything we do today.
Baking was always at the heart of our family celebrations. In Armenian culture, Christmas is celebrated on 6th January, which meant the kitchen came to life weeks in advance. At least five beautifully crafted cakes and festive desserts were prepared each year, lovingly made for family and friends to enjoy.
From a young age, we — the “double trouble” duo — along with our older sister, eagerly gathered around mum’s kitchen, always competing for the first taste of her fresh bakes. These cherished memories of joy, creativity and homemade goodness have become the foundation of our family-run cake business.
Today, we bring that same warmth, care and attention to detail to every bespoke cake we create — from celebration cakes to elegant wedding cakes — sharing a little slice of our family’s legacy with yours.
s we grew up, the responsibilities also increased, from pouring the right amount of vanilla extract into the mix to measuring right amounts of sugar and butter for the cakes. Eventually we took over decorating the cakes, piping intricate flowers, covering the cake with chocolate ganache and thinly sliced walnuts.

t is safe to say that we have been creating cakes since the 1980s. Later on when we moved to England, we brought with us our mum’s old recipe book based on which we started making cakes for friends.
The very first Cake Art was made for a friend’s birthday, in the exact replica of his villa in South of France. The cake was complete with swimming pool filled with blueberry jelly, coconut cypress trees and marzipan terracotta roof tiles.
Our expertise has now developed into cake designing and sculpting, with our focus set firmly on our customers. Through our creativity and imaginative nature, we not only bake scrumptious cakes, but also decorate them as “art projects”, hence the name – Torte Cake Art
